Independence

Health information is only worth trusting if it isn’t being shaped by who’s paying. This page explains, plainly, how My Medicine Advisor stays independent — and why, given how the site is set up, advertising simply isn’t in a position to influence what we publish.

“The whole point of a health site is that you can trust what it says. That means no advertiser, and no money, gets to change the content — and I’ve kept the setup simple enough that none of them can.”

Why Independence Matters

People make real decisions about their health partly based on what they read online. That puts a simple obligation on a health site: what you read here should reflect the evidence, not a commercial interest.

🎯

Content Reflects Evidence, Not Revenue

What we write is based on the best information we can find from reliable sources — never on what might earn the site money or please an advertiser.

🔍

Honest About Funding

The site is supported by advertising, and we’re open about that. We don’t hide how it’s funded or pretend there’s no commercial side to running it.

🤝

Readers Come First

The site answers to its readers, not to sponsors. If something is true and useful but commercially inconvenient, it still gets published.

The Principles We Hold To

Four simple commitments sit behind how content here is written and presented.

01
🎯

Honesty

We report what the evidence says, without sensationalising it or cherry-picking findings to fit a conclusion we’ve already decided on.

02
🔍

Transparency

We’re open about how the site works — that it’s ad-supported, that content is AI-assisted and human-edited, and who’s behind it.

03
⚖️

Independence

Commercial relationships don’t shape the content. The evidence leads; advertising follows separately and never the other way round.

04

Accountability

Content is sourced and dated, the editor stands behind it, and when something is wrong we correct it openly rather than hiding it.

How Independence Works Here, Specifically

We won’t describe a corporate firewall we don’t have. The honest version is simpler — and, in some ways, stronger: there’s no advertiser in a position to influence the content in the first place.

📺

No direct advertiser deals

Ads are served programmatically through a third-party network. We don’t sell ad space to brands directly, so no advertiser is in a position to ask for changes to what we write.

🚫

No sponsored content

We don’t publish paid articles or “advertorial.” There’s no arrangement where a company pays to have something written or framed a certain way.

🔗

No affiliate links

We don’t currently use affiliate links, so there’s no commission riding on whether you click or buy a particular product.

✍️

One editor, accountable to readers

The site is written and edited by its founder. The only interests it’s built to serve are its readers’ — not a sales team’s, because there isn’t one.

What We Always — and Never — Do

The commitments below apply to everything on the site.

✅ We Always

Base content on evidence

We work from recognised, authoritative sources and link to them where we can.

Keep advertising identifiable

Ads are recognisable as ads, kept separate from the editorial content.

Be open about funding

We say plainly that the site is ad-supported and how that works.

Correct openly

Meaningful corrections are noted and dated rather than quietly edited away.

❌ We Never

Take payment to favour a product

We don’t accept money to write about, recommend, or rank a product favourably.

Let advertisers approve content

No advertiser gets to review, change, delay, or block what we publish.

Disguise ads as editorial

We don’t run paid content dressed up to look like an independent article.

Hide corrections

We don’t quietly bury mistakes to protect anyone’s commercial or reputational interests.

Sources, AI & Corrections

Independence sits alongside the rest of how the site is run. In short:

📚

Primary Sources

We build content from authoritative sources rather than secondary aggregators. More on how content is made is in our Editorial Policy.

🤖

AI, Disclosed

We use AI to assist with drafting and editing, and a human edits and is responsible for what’s published. Details are in our AI Transparency Policy.

✏️

Open Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it openly. See our Corrections Policy for how to flag an error.
