Who is at higher risk and should start earlier

When to stop screening, and when symptoms can’t wait

Screening isn’t meant to continue indefinitely.

The USPSTF recommends against routine PSA screening for men 70 and older — a Grade D recommendation — because at that age the harms outweigh the small benefit. The ACS adds that overall health matters more than age alone: men without symptoms who have less than a 10-year life expectancy generally aren’t offered screening.
